A fragment from a fired clay brick retaining part of an inscription commemorating Nebuchanezzar The Great. The inscription reads: “Nebuchadnezzar II, king of Babylon, who cares for (zanin), Esagila and Ezida”. This inscription, known as Nebuchadnezzar II No. 41, is found at several sites which were constructed or renovated by the king during his reign.

Ex. deceased estate, West Sussex, UK; acquired before 1990 from the collection of The Reverend JKL Pearson. JKL Pearson probably acquired his collection of cuneiform texts during World War One while serving with the Indian Army Ordonance Corps in Mesopotamia.
