Egyptian large faience figure of BesE38
A large moulded and glazed faience figure depicting the god Bes. The pale blue glaze has mis-fired to a dark purple colour over much of the front of the figure.
The ancient Egyptians worshipped Bes as the god of music, merriment, and childbirth.
