Egyptian wood figure of a Sokar falcon

A carved wood figure of a falcon with detailed facial features and traces of gesso on parts of the surface. Falcon figures such as this were often positioned on a base facing a figure of Ptah-Sokar-Osiris, the bird being a representation of the god Sokar. The head has a rectangular recess for attachment of a solar crown and the underside of the figure has a circular hole for fixing to a larger base.
