Condition
Repaired; part of the rim has been restored (reconstructed in painted plaster), as have a couple of small chips on the surface as well as small areas by one lug handle which has been re-attached.
Provenance
Ex. private collection, Toronto, Canada; formerly with Royal Athena Galleries, published 2016 in Art of the Ancient World, item 185. Prior to this the vase was in the collection of Dr Jerome Eisenberg, NYC, USA; acquired at Sothebys New York in November 1987. The vase was previously with the art dealer Joseph Brummer (inventory number N4219) and was purchased by Brummer at the auction of the collections of Everit Macy (1871-1930) in 1938, lot 259. An illegible red ink number inscribed by one handle and a red ink number 8 inscribed under the base.
