Minoan painted pottery spouted jar

A rare Minoan painted pottery vessel consisting of a squat body rising to a central aperture and mounted on the front with a long pouring spout. Both sides are decorated with a small lug on the lower shoulder. Remnants of painted brown slip can be see on parts of the surface.

Vessels similar to this were excavated by Sir Arthur Evans in the palace foundations at both Knossos and Phaestos (please see reference below) and used to date both structures.

Surface wear and accretions, repaired from several pieces with small losses as seen in the photographs
