Greek Attic white ground lekythos fragment with warrior
G97£900.00
Sold
A fragment from a white ground lekythos of the finest quality, painted with a profile head of a youthful warrior. The young man wears an elaborate cuirass and his head is adorned with a kotinos, the sacred olive wreath which represents success and vitality (as well as the symbol of victory in the Olympic Games). A vertical black line in front of the youth’s face is probably a spear which rises into a meander and chequer-board frieze above.
