An Apulian red figure pottery squat lekythos decorated on the front of the body with a female head in profile, framed by a pair of foliate sprigs. Vessels such as this were used for valued perfumes and scented oils, the broad flat rim was designed so that the contents could be poured sparingly in drips.

During the late 1940’s to early 1950’s Mr Mullaly was involved in archaeological explorations in Sicily and Tripolitania.
