A fragment from the upper part of a sizeable marble funerary stele decorated in high relief with two male heads. The head on the right depicts a youth gazing outwards while the head on the left depicts a man looking up at the youth. This is most likely a mourning scene showing a deceased youth being grieved by the second figure.

Fragment as seen in the photographs, mounted in plaster which has been chipped on the corners (top left corner repaired)

Provenance
Ex. private collection, Paris, France; acquired early 20th Century and encased in an Art Deco type plaster display mount with a grey polished surface.
