A fragment from a red slip ware pottery oil lamp with moulded applique decoration. The decoration depicts the infant Achilles being taught to hunt by the centaur Chiron. The young hero rides on the back of the centaur holding a spear and Chiron holds a recently killed hare. The scene is framed by a frieze of hares and a hunting dog.
