East Mediterranean Early Bronze Age pottery vase with goat decorationM37
An unusual pottery vase with carved relief decoration depicting two processions of goats, five around the shoulder and four around the lower body.
The animal decoration is reminiscent of Egyptian Naqada painted wares but we have been unable to find parallels for relief decoration in this area. It seems more likely that the vase originates from surrounding regions, blending both Mesopotamian and Egyptian decorative techniques.
Eastern Mediterranean, late 4th to mid 3rd Millennium BC
