Palestinian Bronze Age pottery rhytonW18
A very unusual pottery rhyton with a flared rim and the lower body formed into a drinking cup connected by an arched tube.
The scarcity of similar vessels makes attribution somewhat tentative but the Eastern Mediterranean has comparable pottery fabrics as well as a history of producing vessels with cup-shaped spouts.
Palestine, Bronze Age, probably mid to late 2nd Millennium BC
25.5 x 19 cms
Upper mouth reconstructed, lower stem and cup with repairs and some reconstruction.
Ex. private collection, Roskilde, Denmark; acquired 1950’s-1960’s.
