Levantine possibly Cypriot cylinder seal with bull-menW24
A carved dark grey steatite cylinder seal decorated with two striding bull-men separated by trees.
Mesopotamian representations of bull-men (Lamassu) tend to depict the mythical beasts with frontal-facing heads and large beards, almost always shown in contest with a hero. The side-profile heads on this seal, as well as the placid poses are closer to Cypriot and Aegean bull-man/minotaur imagery.
Levantine, possibly Cyprus, c. 1650-1200 BC
