A green glazed and carved steatite scarab decorated on the base with a frontal head of the goddess Hathor. On either side of the head is a uraeus cobra, the marker of the goddess’s very close relation to the king-like gods Horus and Re – and related to the goddess’s own sky and sun aspects, the cobras each wear the crown of Upper or Lower Egypt.
