A rare Achtförmige crude grey pottery open oil lamp with a broad rounded spout. This type of lamp was developed for use in Northern Europe where olive oil was a valuable commodity and animal fats were therefore often burned as lamp fuel in their place.

Ex. private collection, Kent, UK; acquired from Helios Gallery. Formerly in the collection of Sir William Whitfield CBE (1920-2019), acquired from a 19th Century collection. Old collection number labels on the side and interior.
