A painted wood canopic jar lid carved with the head of Hapy. The baboon-headed god Hapy was one of the Four Sons of Horus, this lid would have been set on a canopic jar containing the lungs of the deceased.

7.2 x 11 cms, 10 cms tall including stand

 Condition 
Losses and discolouration to the painted surface, mounted on a c. 1970’s baize-covered wood display stand.

Provenance 
Ex. collection: Jean-Pierre Corteggiani (1942-2022), France. Corteggiani was an Egyptologist and formerly head of Scientific and Technical Relations at the Institut Français d’Archéologie Orientale, a research institute based in Cairo.
