Egyptian painted faience tile from Amarna

E118

£350.00

Sold

A rare fragment from a faience tile with painted decoration in grey and brown on a cream ground. The undecorated part of the tile has a slightly raised curved profile suggesting it may be the border of a large composition.

The thickness of the tile (2.3 cms) indicates that this was used for flooring and therefore probably originates from the royal palace of Akhenaten and Nefertiti.
