A very large and fine red figure pottery vase fragment painted with a depiction of a naked warrior seated on a rock, holding a spear and wearing a spotted Phrygian helmet. The legs and feet of a standing draped figure can be seen in front of the warrior and behind him is some folded drapery indicative of a further figure.
Greek, Apulian colonies in South Italy, early 4th Century BC
Fragmentary as shown, repaired from seven pieces
Size: 24 x 18.7 cms, 28 cms across widest point
Ex. private collection, Bourges, France; inherited from a family collection formed in the early to mid 20th Century.
