A superb fragment from a life-size Pentelic marble sculpture depicting the front part of a right foot resting on a large base.
Hellenistic or early Roman, reputedly from Athens, c. 1st Century BC to 1st Century AD
c. 25 x 23 x 21 cms, the foot is 18.5 cms long

Ex. collection: J. Birch, London, UK; formerly acquired at auction. Reputedly given during the early 1960’s to a person involved with the construction of the Hilton hotel in Athens. The hotel opened in 1963 and is located close to Syntagma Square in Central Athens.
