Roman pottery figure of Venus

A hollow moulded pottery figure depicting the goddess Venus shown naked except for her jewellery, her divinity noted by a halo behind her head. The goddess covers her modesty with her left hand and holds a wash-cloth above an amphora in her right hand.

Repaired on legs, some losses and restoration to the base, breasts and halo
Provenance
Ex. estate of Professor Xenia Muratova (1940-2019), Paris, France. Professor Muratova was an art historian, author and lecturer specialising in Medieval art and archaeology.

Egyptian sandals

The sandals have just arrived thank you. Unfortunately they don’t fit me so I have put them in my display cabinet where they look amazing along with the rest of my antiquities. Once again thank you and happy Christmas to you both.
